Beer Finder

In our industry, we spend a lot of time contemplating beer and food pairings, but at the end of the day, nothing in this world goes better with a cold pint than our species’ true best friend! We’ve been honored to work with Puppies n’Pints, Rescue City and a gaggle of brewery pooch regulars this summer and thought it high time to throw them a bone!

Read on for an interview with Stella from Rescue City about all the awesome work being done in the name of Coney Island pooches and meet some of our favorite taproom regulars!

What is Rescue City’s story? How did it come to be?

Rescue City is a no-kill, volunteer, non-profit animal rescue organization serving Brooklyn and the NY metropolitan area. We believe it is our moral responsibility to protect and improve the lives of helpless, abused, abandoned animals and to place them in loving permanent homes. We often partner with local animal shelters and rescue animals that may otherwise be euthanized due to overcrowding. Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and receive all the veterinary care they need.

How many dogs at Rescue City currently need homes?

Tough to say as the numbers change daily. We may intake 10-15 dogs in a single day!

Why do you choose to participate in Puppies n’ Pints? What do these events do for Rescue City?

These events are always super fun and we network so many new people! The staff is amazing and super helpful – PnP has been able to raise so much of the funds we need to fund our rescues and we are forever grateful! And let’s not forget the ever-so-thankful pups that are finding homes through these events!!!

THE INCREDIBLE TALES OF RESCUE

CITY PUPS!

Peanut

This 8 month old purebred French Bulldog was on his way to be EUTHANIZED! Thankfully an animal lover led his former owners the right way to Rescue City. Peanut developed a sudden weakness in his hind legs, when his owners took him to the vet, he delivered a diagnosis they did not want to deal with, the same owners who purchased him when he was a few weeks old.

Skylah

Hi I’m Skylah, I was rescued from under the boardwalk right before the biggest Snowstorm in Brooklyn. I was living there for a while,  I wish I could tell the team where I came from, but for now,  all they know is that I was bred for puppies. I was shivering, scared and alone, I was lactating and had not a single ounce of fat on me.  I weighed about 4.5lbs. Now I weigh a respectable 9lbs, am approximately 1.5yo, and I owe it all to Rescue City and everybody around me that has taken good care of me and brought me to my forever home with Diana, Scott, and my new family!

Belle (I’M STLL UP FOR ADOPTION!)

Alone, cold and hungry is exactly how my owner left me in our home when he walked out and abandoned me.  My name is Belle, and as gorgeous as I am, this is the first I time I have smiled in many days. I am in urgent need of medical care, Rescue City received a desperate plea to save me and their foster Leslie sprung to action the moment she heard about me. Today was my first night eating nutritious food while cuddled up in a warm bed. I am extremely fluffy which makes it hard to tell how bad my condition is, someone really hurt me and I don’t have much use of my rear legs … or maybe just one leg, but a vet at Sheepshead Bay Veterinary Group will determine that.
