Beer Finder

Freak Week has arrived! Our week dedicated to the wild and wacky beers brewing down on the Coney Island boardwalk is back for the third year running from September 23-30.

This year we’re bringing you TWO brand new beers brewed exclusively for Freak Week and our Big Ol’ Pumpkin Ale (Freaktoberfest) and Imperial Big Ol’ Pumpkin Ale (Super Freak) will be back by popular demand. But back to those two newbies… here’s what to expect with Tilly and Time Bender.

Tilly

Style: A kettle soured red wheat ale fermented on French Saison yeast.
ABV: 6.5%

Where does the name come from?

Tilly pays homage to George Tilyou who founded the original Steeplechase Park. The Tilly face or “funny face” can be seen on everything from fire trucks in the neighborhood to our merchandise and has come to represent our one-of-a-kind neighborhood. It is a Kettle Soured Red Saison, which is as complex and unique as the man that inspired it.

Three words to describe the beer…

Fruity, malty and tart.

The perfect food pairing…

Camembert cheese and roasted duck.

Kat with a tank pour of Time Bender.

Time Bender

Style: Imperial stout brewed with molasses and aged on oak, cacao nibs and vanilla.

ABV: 10%

Where does the name come from?

The name here comes from an old mission statement that Eric found. The brews were supposed to guide you through space and time but this one takes you for a spin. It is a Imperial Stout fermented on cocoa nibs, vanilla beans and French oak spirals.

Three words to describe the beer…

Full-bodied, rich and roasty.

The perfect food pairing…

Chocolate raspberry mousse.

And we can’t just about Super Freak…

So what’s new with Super Freak this year?

It’s the same beer as last year (when we amped up our Big Ol’ Pumpkin Ale, Freaktoberfest, to make it an even bigger ol’ pumpkin ale) but this year we put it in cans!

Three words to describe the beer…

Spiced coffee and warming.

The perfect food pairing…

Pumpkin or pecan pie.

So where and when can people try the Freak Week beers?

Tilly & Time Bender will be on tap at one of these Freak Week events but once the kegs kick, they’re gone! Both beers will also be on tap at the brewery for a limited time and available in growlers.

Super Freak will be on tap around NYC during Freak Week and available in cans exclusively at the brewery… be sure to give us a call first to make sure we still have cans available!

Update 9/27/17: 12 cases left! Call first to confirm!

Freaktoberfest is available on tap around NYC and at the brewery. You can also find it in a 6-pack by checking the beer finder!
