We’re back with another edition of Quarantime chats, this time sitting down with our new Kitchen Manager, Harold. That’s right, we’re serving food in the beer garden now! Can you believe? Check out the below Q&A to see how he got into the food industry, what his favorite dish is to experiment with and where he goes to get the best food in town!
Where are you from?
Im originally from Rich Square, North Carolina.
How did you get into the industry?
My family used to own bakeries in Newark, Jersey City and Secaucus. I started coming to NJ when I was 13 and I would spend the summers and holidays working for them. When I graduated high school in North Carolina, I headed to Jersey for college and work in the bakeries full time.
What is your favorite food to eat?
My favorite food is hot dogs. I love a grilled hot dog with coleslaw on top!
What is your favorite food to make?
My favorite food to make is wings. I love to make different types — smoked, baked, fried, deep fried after being baked in a Korean bbq sauce. I love to play around with different types and sauces!
Favorite part of Coney Island (generally)?
I love the Boardwalk and the beach. Can’t beat the people watching!
Favorite part of NYC?
My favorite part of NYC would be Washington Heights because of the diverse amount of food options — Italian, Turkish, Thai, even Carribean!
Favorite CIB beer pairing?
I‘m not a big drinker, but when I do drink, I go for a Mermaid Pilsner — it’s so good. Deliciously smooth finish! Pair that with a classic hot dog with a little coleslaw on top and you really can’t go wrong.
